Well, this behemoth was certainly standing here when the James & Younger gang attempted to knock off the bank here in my fair city. Northern red oak. I saw this monster when I took my son to this park on Tuesday, and had to go back on Wednesday measuring tape in hand.
149 inches circumference measured 4.5 feet from the ground. Not big enough to get on this list, but not bad for the prairie/tundra.
Sadly, I missed the acorn drop this year - although the squirrels and deer sure didn't. But this giant is now stored away in my mental database of seed sources for next year... so life is still good!
